School has started...or has it ended?

I've been looking at Facebook recently.  I saw that there were some very negative comments about a nearby elementary school.  The comments were regarding so many substitutes in the classes, no principal, and others....  I only saw the tail end of the negativity as one of my friends encouraged that thought process to stop!  AND I was too lazy to 'see older posts'.

What would people say about my "school"?  It is not starting on time...  The teacher is unorganized...  School supplies are in a state of misfortune (I just use what we had from last year.)...  There is a lack of planning...  There are too many students of too many different ages (12, 8, 7, 6, 3, 1,and 6 months currently)....  The teacher is too hard on her students....or too easy....  There is not enough seatwork...  There is never any homework...

Well, in my homeschool I'm not depriving my children of their "summer" - besides, we school all year long in various fashions.  This summer alone, my kids have been to two camps (one Bible/Nature and one science/Nasa), three Bible Schools, the doctor's office (which we utilize as a field trip when possible, and I 'teach' while there), learned how to care for two infants at one time, created jewelry, trained a dog to do a few tricks, learned how to bathe a dog, learned about flea and tick medication, learned about heart worms and dog training from the veterinarian, created sewing projects, learned how to use a 'real' camera (with a focus dial) from an online photography class, and watched multiple educational films / movies.  Not to mention the reading they do - all on their own!

So, technically, we are still schooling from last year?  That is what makes homeschooling so unique!  I take life and their individual interests and compile classes (often at the spur of the moment) to educate.  We take all opportunities to learn!  My 'school' may not have the new glue sticks, erasers, crayons, pencils, paper, paints, or busy work ready to go, but my kids will never know... they are too interested in what we are DOING today!
