Why I Homeschool Hudson by Elizabeth Walker

WHY I HOMESCHOOL HUDSON
Hudson has never been in a school setting. We knew from the beginning he would not be able to go to school as long as we live in West Virginia. My oldest son has a vaccine injury. The first MMR caused seizures and permanent brain damage. From that point on, further vaccination has been discouraged. He has a medical exemption from his doctor that the state refuses to recognize. Due to his brother's vaccine injury, we have opted not to vaccinate Hudson. As such, he is not permitted in the public schools in this state.
The second major reason for us homeschooling him was not apparent for several years. Hudson is an advanced child, and would be bored out of his mind and be held back in school. He is technically beginning his kindergarten year this year, but is doing work on a second grade level in everything but reading. He has been very resistant to learning to read in the past. He is now beginning to learn. Once he is reading, he is going to advance at an even faster rate. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he becomes one of those kids who is taking college classes in middle school!
Every so often I will ask him if he wants to go to school, and he is very adamant about not going. He loves being homeschooled and setting the pace for what he learns.
